Why I give (Because Give is a G-word)

Give is a "G-word"; Generosity is a "G-word",Gift is also a "G-word".

What is one to do when one discovers when one discovers one's gift?

My name is Leonard Nimoy Slater and I have the "gift of the gab". I have been blessed with it since the days of my early childhood; maybe that's because of my name. Since my early childhood, I have been forced to embrace logic and reason as did my famous namesake and it has also been an endless quest to identify humanity in humans for me. I have also been a poet turned rapper since the age of 12. Those familiar will the early years of rap in Baltimore City Maryland and radio station W.E.B.B. will also attest to my gift of the gab. I was known as Icy Bro; a rapper from a crew called the Mega-Force and in 1983-85 Wilson Park was my playground.

For the last 20+ years, I have been making a living as a rapper who daylights as a Business English Coach for multinational financial institutions and security supervisory authorities. One could say that I have a fascination with money. I don't mean dollars, yen, or sterling. What I mean to say is that I have a fascination with currency. As a rapper, I have often written about the evils done for the love of money. As a business English coach, I have sparred with CFOs, MDs, and securities experts about how much criminal energy there is to be found in any system that uses the bottom line as a moral compass.

However, the little Vulcan rapper that lived inside of me could never accept the words (love and money) as part of a wise logical lexical choice when the desired effect of one's action was to be human and thus humane. Some readers may have to read this paragraph more than once to get my point. That is not because they are slow. On the contrary understanding one that truly has the gift of the gab is not always easy.

I have come to terms with the fact that making large sums of money will be the side effect of using my gift consciously. I have decided to start giving back in advance. Hashemo's Haus is my way of giving the next generation of non-native English-speaking children to navigate what is being said now so that they will be able to talk to each other tomorrow. Simultaneously, I would like to introduce the children of the world to the children of America. I would also like to make the children of rural and urban America a part of that introduction and dialogue. Hashemo's Haus would like to go around the world with music and sport making sure that no child is left out of this dialogue. I am using my intellectual property (Lucky Mushroom) to help with that mission.

Currently, only privileged children who generally attend well-funded private schools have access to the full gauntlet of the Lucky Mushroom Kinder English/Sport program. Hashemo's Haus is about to change that! Whenever you hear about a reggae concert taking place in your town or any town on this planet and you see "The Little Girl in the Blue Dress" with her friend The Lucky Mushroom, you can be sure that something good is happening. I am making an attempt to give. I am trying to give the kids of rural and urban America a chance to take part. I am attempting to give the children of Africa and Asia a seat at the table. I am attempting to give the children a chance to talk to one another about peace. I am giving them a chance to make their own platform to create their own dialogue. I am giving them an understanding of the English language that has not been tarnished by religious or political ideologies.

When I first introduced my puppet, "Lucky Mushroom", I said that he was retarded and most people said that I could not use the word, especially in reference to Lucky. I don't refer to him that way anymore. However, I continue to refer to myself that way. I believe that love is the answer and I will continue to love no matter how much hate I encounter. I will always believe that there is hope for peace no matter how deep the differences. Hope is the gift that I will never stop giving the children of the blue and green rock that we call planet Earth. I will never apologize to anyone for wanting our kids to be able to talk to one another.

This is a hastily written blog that has been written by a human, please excuse any errors. Please do not allow a typo to be your reason for not giving. Find another cause and give.

Let's give together and have fun doing so.
